It is also possible to load software updates and new applications onto the card in a safe environment. On the central side this is guaranteed by a CMS (Card Management System) within the telematic infrastructure having corresponding access regulators and connectors.
Such a multifunctional card (rather the chip on the card) has to correspond to higher demands as those for the eGK. That is why a “better” configuration of the chip than intended right now for the eGK is planned. The better configuration, however, will also bring some higher costs.
Because we – rather our customers and potential buyers – intend to use the card also contactless, we plan the use of hybrid cards under usage of RFID (Radio-Frequency-Identification) in the NFC mode (Near Field Communication). The RFID is connected with the chip processor and takes over communication at contactless operation. The use of RFID brings further advantages. Besides the contactless usage for access/passage/entrance checks the ID of the RFID chip is unique, offers an additional fake protection and can be used as key for the digital signature. The standardized transmission frequency of the RFID makes it possible to communicate with devices directly, e.g. for sending card data contactless to a printer. For special applications a “movement tracing” is also possible at a corresponding configuration.
As MFC, covering the demands of the eGK, the basic implementation – like also for Medatrans Net – is put on the specifications of gematik GmbH for also covering the demands on the eGK. |
