Because also the format settings for the eGK up to card size and thickness are given by gematik GmbH and these have been taken over also for the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), it is very realistic and can be assumed that these format settings will lead to an international accepted format and with this to a card with (at least outer) uniform format.

The requirements on the safety structures, the performance and configuration of the chip processor and the required memory of gematik will not only be considered but dimensioned correspondingly for further planned applications. At this the use of a hybrid card as additional option is planned. In addition to the contact-based chip it works with a RFID chip.

The use of a comparable hybrid chip combination will then also be possible for mobile phones or terminals, standing, however, in contrary to the present format settings, but could/will be a serious alternative to the card.
