Task of Medatrans is to allow the different user groups multifunctional data exchange regarding access regulation and sectored access offline as well as online by a protected method. The access regulation filed to the patent concerns all processes at which offline or online-sectored information access is to be made available. This special access regulation applies to processes on the card (Smart-Card) and in network operation under usage of different protocols and transfer methods Transponder (RFID 13,56 MHZ), WLAN, Bluetooth, WIMAX etc.
For the majority number of applications there is a need for different reasons (e.g. insufficient or not existent telematic infrastructure) to use the cards (chip-cards) also offline or “semi-online” (e.g. working with the card offline and making an update/balance of the data “card <-> server”). That is why it is meaningful and necessary also to manage all data necessary for offline processing and the access rights (access regulation). For the eGK these mainly could be emergency data (blood group, allergies etc.) or examination reports, instructions, information for risk patients (epileptics etc.).
On the card it should also be made sure that the data and programs of the different applications can absolutely be separated from each other. So, for the different (multifunctional) applications a safe and independent handling is to be guaranteed via a strict sectorisation of the data and access rights. This happens via access regulation together with the use of an operating system for the card supporting all mentioned demands. The chip-cards of some major manufacturers have save operating systems.
