The process of hospital allocation for patients is inadequate:

  • it is determined only with regard to the hospital in the nearest vicinity
  • before transport, it is not extensively investigated whether a specific patient-oriented admission (according to the diagnosis) is even possible
  • the preparation at the receiving clinic is not adequate
  • communication problems often occur within the entire rescue chain, between the control unit, physician on-site and the hospital
  • communication problems also occur in cases of inter-hospital transport

"Time delays result from the lack of communication between the requisitioning hospital and the receiving hospital. The admitting hospital often has no knowledge of  the patient that is being transferred until the emergency physician is standing at the door with his patient." (Rauter, AGN 7/2003, 4).

"Emergency tourism:"
Trips from hospital to hospital result from occupied or inadequate capacities. The consequences for the patient are extended waiting periods, unnecessary transfers, extended rehabilitation periods and even permanent damage or death.
